How to Measure Your Dog's Neck

A great fit starts with the right measurement. Taking a moment to measure your dog’s neck ensures their collar is both comfortable and secure. Follow the simple steps below, find their size, and choose the perfect collar they’ll love to wear every day.

How to measure

Find the right Spot

Measure around the base of your dog's neck, where the collar naturally sits. This is usually just above the shoulders. The collar should be snug but not tight. You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably between the measuring tape and your dog's neck.

Puppy

Size Neck Size Width
XS 21.5 cm – 31.5 cm 1.5 cm
S 26 cm – 41 cm 1.5 cm

Classic

Size Neck Size Width
S 24 cm – 35 cm 2 cm
M 32.5 cm – 52.5 cm 2 cm
L 38 cm – 61 cm 2.5 cm
XL 44 cm – 73 cm 2.5 cm

Tactical

Size Neck Size Width
M 37 cm – 47 cm 2.5 cm
L 45.5 cm – 61 cm 3.8 cm
XL 54.5 cm – 79 cm 3.8 cm

Important: Measure your dog’s neck at the widest point and leave space for two fingers. We need the exact neck size to position embroideries and dog pins during personalization. For dogs that are still growing or regularly visit a groomer, knowing the precise neck size is crucial. If unsure, feel free to contact us.

Important for personalized collars
Exact neck size is required for embroidery and dog pin placement
Puppies grow and grooming can change neck size
Longer names and small collars may reduce or leave limited room for adjustment as embroidery or pins can block the slider

FAQs
How do I measure my dog’s neck correctly?

Use a soft measuring tape and wrap it around the base of your dog’s neck, where the collar naturally sits. Make sure the tape is snug but not tight.

We recommend adding two fingers of space between the tape and your dog’s neck. This ensures the collar fits comfortably without being too tight.

Can I measure my dog without a measuring tape?

Yes! If you don’t have a measuring tape, use a piece of string, ribbon, or shoelace. Wrap it around your dog’s neck, mark the length, and measure it against a ruler.

Where should the collar sit on my dog’s neck?

The collar should sit in the middle of the neck, not too high like a show collar and not too low on the shoulders. This position gives the most accurate measurement and the most comfortable fit.

What if my dog is between two collar sizes?

Choose the larger size for growing dogs and puppies. For adult dogs, either size may work, but the larger one usually offers more adjustability and comfort.
